Jobs in SDNP Bangladesh

The Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SDNP) of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), a component of Sustainable Environment Management Programme (SEMP) of the ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) is looking for the following project personnel.

1. Assistant System Administrator (1 position):
The candidate will be responsible for providing backup to the general system administrator and support for Linux and NT servers including support of electronic mail, news groups, ftp, application server and WWW server. Experience in LAN/WAN equipment like CISCO routers, hubs, switches, RAS and other servers for proper installation, maintenance, tuning, troubleshooting and upgradation. Should assist in set up of Internet connection as ISP, install LAN/WAN Internet hook ups in multi–user/multi-operating systems (TCP/IP, NFS, DNS/NIS, etc.), configure Radio Link equipment, including routers, switches and remote access network equipment.

The candidate should have working knowledge in Perl, Shell scripts, load balancing system, firewall deployment and system security. Familiar with back up strategy, disaster recovery strategies, remote management and administration and RAID system. VSAT equipment experience would be an added advantage.

A university degree in computer science /IT or a related field with at least 2 years practical experience.

 

2. Maintenance Engineer- Network (1 position):
The candidate will be responsible for providing backup to the Assistant System Administrator involving support for Linux servers running Apache (including support to electronic mail, news, ftp server, application server and WWW server); maintain and troubleshoot internal network equipment of routers, servers and network hubs and maintain and trouble shoot internet connection along with internet related services and monitor security of services; maintain remote access network equipment; backup management.

The candidate should have 2 years of practical experience in installing and configuring Linux (TCP/IP); familiar with backup strategies, remote management and administration, networking over TCP/IP. A university degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.

 

3. Maintenance Engineer- Radio Link (1 position):
The candidate will be responsible for providing backup to the Assistant System Administrator involving support for LAN/WAN, radio link and troubleshooting (including support to electronic mail, news, ftp server, application server and WWW server); maintain and troubleshoot satellite (SCPC, MCPC) and broadband Internet related equipment; and internal network equipment of routers, servers and network hubs.

The candidate should have 2 years of practical experience in installation and configuration of LAN/WAN link, Linux (TCP/IP); familiar with backup strategies, networking over TCP/IP. A university degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
