Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SDNP)
   
 

Welcome to SDNP Mymensingh Node...

In order to outreach SDN’s activities in the regional stations, the first regional node has been selected to be at Mymensingh. SDNP has selected the Bangladesh Agricultural University BAU, (Largest education and research institute in Mymensingh) as the possible host institute for setting up the regional node.

With the launching of the regional node, the staff and students here will enjoy fast internet access via a wireless link to the capital, Dhaka, more than 100 kilometres away. After measuring the air distance between Dhaka and Mymensingh it is found that the distance can be covered by setting up two towers in between these two destinations (Tower)  Radio modem connectivity is the preferred link as this is cheaper and also convenient.

The inauguration ceremony is jointly organized by Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU) and Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SDNP) of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). The node is formally opened by The Hon’ble Minister for Environment and Forest Mr. Shahjahan Siraj MP.

Hon’ble State Minister for Environment and Forest Mr. Jafrul Islam Chowdhury MP and Hon’ble State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. A.K.M. Mosharraf Hossain FCA, MP are also present in the occasion as Special quests. Also in the opening ceremony Mr.Sabih Uddin  Ahmed, the  Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests and NPD, SEMP, Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, the Chairperson, SDNP Steering Committee, Mr. Md. Nazibur Rahman Registrar BAU, Dr. M. Aminul Islam, SDA, UNDP, Dr. M. Asaduzzaman PD, SDNP have addressed the session.
